Travelling and work are part of our life. We cannot live without any of them. Work is the source of income and travelling is a source of happiness. Although, it depends on the nature of a person but, a year gap between finishing high school and starting university can be beneficial for a lot of people.
Student live their whole life up to the expectations of their parents and try to study hard in high school. This cause them to drain themselves which could be harmful for them. This acts as the perfect time to give students a break for a year in which they can work or travel. The advantage of working is that they can gain experience and sort out a profession for themselves. Students can take distinctive approach and can try to work in different fields apart from their chosen one, this can lead to new exposure. They can also take this opportunity to travel to refresh their minds and learn being independent. Travelling can boost their confidence and make them happy. They can have memories which they can cherish for the rest of their lives.
There are disadvantages too despite of the fact that it looks like a good idea to take a year gap before university starts. As the student begins working, it leads them to believe that they don’t have the need to study anymore. Its common knowledge that most of the students study so they can earn money by getting a job. But ones the students start making money, they decide to not go to the university. Travelling can also become a dark tunnel for the students. As travelling takes a lot of time, it can cause a lack of routine for the students. It is also very expensive and language barrier is also quiet common.
Everything has its advantages and disadvantages but I, personally believe that a year gap should be provided to students so they can refresh their minds and be more aware once they start their university life.
