Drug is a substance that can be used to cure a human, simultaneously it could also be used to harm organs of the human body. Tobacco is among those drugs that comes under the category of harmful drugs for the human body but people are yet free to use it. Some people argue to make the use of tobacco illegal but I strongly disagree with this argument.
The legal age for consuming products that contain tobacco is 18 years which ensures that the person using it is fully aware about the harm it could bring upon himself. If tobacco is declared illegal because of its harmful nature then there would be a long list of things that would have to be declared illegal too. For example, some doctors believe sugar is way too harmful for the human body than most of the drugs, but it is not possible to declare it an illegal substance.
Furthermore, it is a choice that a person makes by his freewill either he needs to consume a substance which will bring harm to his body or not. If governments get the chance to regulate the personal lives or choices of the people, it will never stop and eventually people will become robots.
However, some people believe that the tobacco should be declared illegal because of the adverse effects it have on a human body and due to its addictive nature.
There is no doubt about the harms that the tobacco brings, but the choice to accept or reject its consumption should solely lies in the hand of a consumer rather than any government.
