As our world is advancing toward a new era, with an astonishingly rapid pace, this is gradually making people aware about the importance of education. Hence education is gaining incredible amount of popularity among folks, with increasing popularity there is a trend in some countries, where young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing their high school and starting their university studies. In this essay I intend to explore the possible advantages and disadvantages for this encouragement.
To begin with, there are several advantages for this “gap” year for instance it gives students a relief from rigorous hardworking years of school and gives them time to recover from it. Secondly, it provides them with real life exposure of the world for example if a student is working in a utility store for a year, he will be dealing with different kind of people which would ultimately enhance his social skill, likewise he would also be able experience different side of the world which would also broaden an individual mind. Thirdly, it would also gave an individual some time to judge his or her own personality as it would help them to know what they want to become in future.
Moving towards disadvantages, there are also several disadvantages like this gap year can break the momentum of the student then they will not be able to study hard as hard like they had previously studied. Secondly, this gap year can attract several students into bad habits for instance students might start doing drugs or might start smoking.
To put this in a nutshell, I pen down saying that this gap year, has more advantages and can prove to be the turning points for student in enhancing their skills and in polishing their characters.
